Big names out in injury-hit day at Wimbledon

Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga all went out in the second round of Wimbledon in a day of withdrawals.

Seven players, Victoria Azarenka (women's second seed), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ( men's 6th), Marin Cilic, John Isner, Rafael Nadal-beater Steve Darcis, Radek Stepanek and Yaroslava Shevdova all retired through injury.

Third seeds Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer both crashed out, the Russian losing to number 131 in the world, and reigning champion Federer going out to number 116.

Andy Murray, however, is safely through after winning in straight sets.

With Federer, Nadal and Tsonga all out and grass not Novak Djokovic's favourite surface, surely if there was a year for Murray to win Wimbledon this would be it. What do you think? Please feel free to put down your comments.
