Man City regained some pride with a 2-1 win over Man United to show that they will be challenging the Red Devils again in the next campaign.
Players in blue scored all three goals, with a Vincent Kompany own goal levelling James Milner's strike before Sergio Aguero won it for City.
In the weekend's games, both QPR and Reading are almost definitely going down, with QPR 7 points from safety after a 1-1 draw with Wigan left them 19th. The situation is even worse for Reading after a 2-0 loss to Southampton left them 20th with only 23 points.
Paulo Di Canio got off to a losing start as Sunderland manager, with his side losing 2-1 to Chelsea. Arsenal beat West Brom 2-1.
