Weekend of relegation and Wigan & Man City progress

It was a Saturday of relegation dogfights, with six of the bottom eight clubs facing each other in the Premier League.

In the only top half game of the day, West Brom beat Swansea 2-1, with the the Swans having a late goal harshly ruled out.

Both QPR and Aston Villa grabbed vital wins, with QPR winning 3-1 against Sunderland, and Aston Villa coming behind to beat Reading 2-1. Norwich had a late penalty saved by Athur Boruc to finish their game with Southampton 0-0.

In the FA Cup, Wigan scored three goals in four minutes to stun Everton at Goodison Park and book their place in the semi-finals of the competition with a 3-0 win.

In the other FA Cup game, Manchester City thrashed Barnsley 5-0 with Carlos Tevez scoring a hat-trick.
